10 tips for successful rose planting

Planting roses isn't really complicated, as long as you have some good tips and advice to get you started ...

    1. Check with your local garden center or florist for the best type of roses to grow in your climate. If you are a newbie, you should look it up.

    2. When planting roses, you should choose a place that is well lit in the morning. You also want an area that is lit by the sun for at least 6 hours a day. Roses need a lot of light to grow properly. However, if you live in a really hot climate, you will probably get the best results if you don't plant your roses in direct sunlight.

    3. Choose an area that has a lot of well-drained soil. Excellent soil has a PH level where the amount of acid in the soil is approximately 5.5 to 7.0. You can get a test kit for your soil at any garden center.

    4. Organic matter like manure or lime helps nourish the roots of your roses. You should soak the roots in water or a puddle of clay for many minutes and cut the ends of the roots that are broken.

    5. The first 3-4 weeks after planting your roses, you should water them frequently. Usually this is when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Roses need a lot of hydration and food to stay healthy.

    6. Four weeks after planting, you should start soaking the litter every 2 weeks or so. You should do this in the morning for the best results.

    7. Start fertilization approximately 3 months after sowing. Use 3-6 inches of mulch to control humidity, temperature, and to prevent weeds from sprouting. Mulch also helps retain vital nutrients your roses need to stay healthy.

    8. Planting in spring is best.

    9. You want to plant your roses in an area that has good air circulation. Your roses will not grow in a closed or narrow area.

    10. Dig a hole that is twice as large as the amount of space your roses take up. It makes them easier to plant and creates a well-spaced area for them to grow freely. Poor circulation of your roses can cause fungal diseases. Using a larger hole also makes it easier for you to pick them up later and place them in a pot if you like.
